Kevin Allen: The Apprentice Season 2 Contestant
by Derek Grosso
Where are you located right and are you currently working on?
Right now I live in Atlanta, Georgia and I have a few projects going on. I am hard and heavy into my municipal finance company, First Municipal Credit Company as well as working on several production projects through my production company, DreamTeam Productions. Still doing a lot of speaking and appearances -- I love going into companies like GE and Novartis and talking about diversity, which is a big piece of what I do.
Have you had any big news or announcements since you were "fired" from The Apprentice?
The biggest news since I was 'fired' is that I got married!
Looking back, if you had been hired as The Apprentice, how would that have made your life different?
Getting hired as the Apprentice would have been a great opportunity for both myself and the Trump Organization. The Trump Organization gets to benefit from having a minority perspective and I would have been able to learn from the best in the business. Too bad it wasn't meant to be!
If there were an opportunity to do an All-Star Apprentice (with top candidates from all seasons competing again for a job with The Trump Organization), knowing what you now do about yourself and some of the other candidates, would you compete?
I would LOVE to do an All-Star Apprentice. After going through it once I can't imagine how the game would be played having that much Apprentice experience. Intense and competitive -- just like I like it!
In what location would you hope a show like this be taped?
I would love the show to be taped in either Chicago or San Francisco. I think the game changes a lot when you're not in New York. Could you imagine the characters the contestants would be dealing with?
You obviously visited the Island of Manhattan for the show... have you ever been to Long Island? Please tell us about any experiences there.
I have been to Long Island. In fact my first time there was for our housing task. Raj [Bhakta] was our project manager and we got our ass kicked! I did get to see a decent amount of the neighborhood that we were in -- the result of being up for virtually three days straight and making a lot of runs to the local Home Depot! It reminds me of the neighborhoods back in Maryland - very community oriented.
What is your favorite restaurant?
My favorite restaurant is Mama's Fish house in Paia, Maui, Hawaii. It's worth the trip!
Favorite U.S. city?
I love New York but my favorite city is my hometown, Washington D.C.!! The nation's capital is off the chain if you didn't know!
VICTORY. So dignified and so final.
Favorite TV show?
No, not The Apprentice, but Law & Order. King of the Hill and Good Times are close seconds.
Favorite personal quote?
"Everyone has a plan until they get hit."
Is there anything else you would care to mention that we haven't talked about?
I just want to let folks know that a lot of us from the show really appreciate the support, encouragement and well wishes of all of the Apprentice fans out there. I know some of us take it for granted (some more so than others), but the fans should remember that the vast majority of us really do appreciate everyone who watched us every Thursday night.
Where can fans learn more about you and/or your appearances?
I am always posting information on my website at www.kevallen.com. Anyone can contact me there for request for appearances, comments or questions. And yes, it's really me doing the responding, so ask away!
The Apprentice returns to television tonight for its fourth season on NBC.
