Long Island Maritime Museum Seafood Festival
Visitors won't be disappointed this year, because once again, the festival committee has worked hard to add new and exciting attractions to the event. There will be over 100 exhibitors of fine arts and crafts on hand coordinated by Preferred Promotions of Long Island. The Festival will feature over thirty activities and displays provided by some of the area's most important environmental and educational groups. Newsday, the presenting sponsor of this event, will have its History in Motion traveling museum on site and there will be more sumptuous seafood available than ever before being prepared by the Hewlett Fish Market.
Live music will play a big part in the festivities all weekend with WBAB and WBLI as the exclusive radio stations, bringing in some of the best local, regional and national acts to the south lawn. Saturday afternoon will play host to dance track sensation Javier, Bad Medicine (Bon Jovi tribute band), DHT singing their #1 hit "Listen to your Heart," Who's Next (The Who tribute) and finish off with a 10-piece Motown tribute band, The Motown Review. Sunday's musical line-up will feature Dreamstreet's Chris Trousdale (who also will be hosting a meet and greet), Murena Project featuring 2005 American Idol finalist Joe Murena, Live Wire (AC/DC tribute), Vinny St. Martin & The Seeing Eye Dog Band (Ray Charles tribute) and Evolution (Journey tribute).
This year's event promises to be full of fun and excitement for friends and the whole family. Gates will open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m. Food vendors will remain open until 6:00 p.m. with great entertainment until 7:00 p.m. Admission to the Festival is $5.00, which goes directly to support the museum's operations. Children 5 and under are free.
