Local Athlete Recognized as All-American
Christina DeMartino of Massapequa Park was recently named the High School Girls National Player of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. She will be recognized at the NSCAA All-America Luncheon in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday, January 15. This is her second All-America selection. DeMartino is also the first ever two-time winner of the Michael Clarke Award, presented to the best female high school soccer player in Nassau County. Playing midfield, she was the team leading scorer as a freshman, sophomore and senior at Massapequa High School. She also plays in the Long Island Junior Soccer League for the Albertson Express. DeMartino will be attending UCLA in the Fall of 2005 on a soccer scholarship.
