Anne-Regina: Musician and Pop-Singer
by Derek Grosso
Where were you born and where do you currently reside?
I was born in Bayside, Queens. I currently live in Bayport on Long Island.
Walk us through a day in your life.
I start my day with a cup of coffee. After about a hundred phone calls, I hop in my truck and meet up with my producer, John Gatto, to plan out the day's events. We usually start our evenings around 7:00 p.m. and work in the studio until the wee hours. It varies from day to day, but nevertheless, a big part of my day is spent on our music.
Tell us about your debut album, "Best Kept Secret."
I'm extremely proud of all the work that has gone into making my debut album. I have a collection of wonderful writers whose musical background spans the entertainment field. The music varies from contemporary dance, to classic ballads with mature pop overtones. I feel this CD appeals to everyone's musical tastes.
Who do you count among your influences in music?
Besides my family, who instilled in me the love of music, I would have to say my greatest influence would be the vocal talent of Steve Perry.
Sum up the Long Island music scene in five words.
Musical, Talented, Individuality, Rebirth, Overlooked.
Any interesting stories about a gig/adventure on the Island?
So far, any show I've ever done on Long Island has been great. My only adventures or funny stories have taken place out of the country, but I must admit, I thoroughly enjoyed singing the National Anthem at the Long Island Ducks game. It was my first time ever singing for a sporting event and it was a blast.
We've heard that you starred in a few TV commercials early on in your career. Please to explain your Burger King television experience.
It was a real cute bit. I was a little girl sitting in a booth with my make-believe family, singing how great Burger King burgers were. I was so surprised how long a two second spot took to film. But that experience taught me discipline and patience that I could use in every aspect of this industry.

The Renaissance Period. I seem to have a connection to that time period. I was fortunate enough to reveal my passion for the Renaissance period in part of my Music Video titled, "The Right Place at the Right Time."
Best Halloween costume you've seen (or been)?
I haven't seen anything spectacular yet, but if I were to have a Halloween party it would come as no surprise. The theme would be the Renaissance Period. I would rent a castle and everyone would be dressed in that period costume. Now that would be SPECTACULAR.

Most recent book read or movie seen?

Any quick stories about another artist or celebrity you've met?
I recently had the pleasure of meeting Cyndi Lauper. She was the most honest and sincere celebrity that I have met to date. She had words of advice that will stay with me forever. She told me when I'm out there and singing to the crowd, if I ever feel that no one is listening, just sing to the angels, because they're always there watching over you.

We are close enough to the city to enjoy the Metropolitan lifestyle, but yet escape to the quaint country like towns tucked away all over Long island, not to mention our cultural atmosphere.
